Outdoor Museums

Beginning in Bovec centre this guided tour takes you to places where fantasy escapes to an imaginary world. Many caverns and wooden sheds in Ravelnik outdoor museum are great playground for childhood imagination creating a village of elves and fairies. The origin of this place is unfortunately sad and shocking teaching us about important historical events of The World War One that should never be repeated. Also how once a terrifying place is today a free, peaceful and beautiful outdoor museum waiting to be discovered.

Our next goal is Čelo (Forehead). We can reach it only by walking upwards and that is why we are going slowly. First we stop in a village Koritnica and from there on just 30 more minutes of walk. We come to another amazing place from where we can see to all directions. Who would have thought a view like that is possible when you are not so high from the valley. Soča is right here and Bovec is right there. And there is the first outdoor museum we visited. As we found another treasure of this amazing valley the tranquillity and happiness are floating through our bodies. After a break we walk back to where we started.

Paths and Fortresses

The neighbourhood of Bovec is full of paths. Some of them longer, some of them shorter and some of them are leading nowhere as they were made by sheep and goats searching for better grass.

Our walking tour has two purposes. The first one is of course walking itself. Away from the main roads as much as it’s possible. Breading fresh air, watching beautiful nature, chatting about what we want if we want and finding out what it’s about to come.
The other one are the two fortresses. Kluže and Fort Hermann. The Kluže Fortress is lying above a great gorge of Koritnica river. The Fort Hermann is even higher up. Both of them had a big role in The First World Ware and only one of them is still standing.
